Erik R. Bennett practices civil litigation focusing on the defense of physicians and health care professionals in medical malpractice litigation.
Prior to joining Matis Baum O’Connor, Mr. Bennett was a law clerk for the Honorable President Judge Thomas J. Doerr where he drafted opinions in civil, family, and criminal cases. After Judge Doerr’s retirement in January 2022, Mr. Bennett clerked for the Senior Judges .
Mr. Bennett earned his Juris Doctorate from Duquesne University in 2021. During law school, Mr. Bennett interned at the Center for Hearing and Deaf Services where he researched and drafted forms conveying the obligations of business owners with regard to people with hearing disabilities under the Americans with Disabilities Act.
Mr. Bennett earned his Bachelor’s degree in Neuroscience from the University of Pittsburgh. After graduating, Mr. Bennett worked in the Department of Neurosurgery at the University of Pittsburgh, then the Department of Neurophysiology at UPMC. At UPMC, Mr. Bennett assisted in neurosurgical procedures by monitoring patients to help prevent iatrogenic injury.
